This story starts on October 14 2000,

We (my wife and I) got up this morning at 5.30 a.m. to drive up to Wildervank.

That's close to Assen where the Dutch TT circuit is.

Took us a good 3 hours 30 min. to get there

and it's some 300 Kilometers from where we come from.

Why did we go there ???

well the pictures below tell it all, just click on them for a large version.

this is the place we went to , HMI Italian Motors

www.hmimoto.nl his homepage .

and this is why we went there...

no no not the guy !!

This is what the shop looks like on the inside,

lot's of Italian bikes,

Benelli,Laverda,Moto Guzzi etc.etc.

This is his own racer,

not what we call

a street legal machine.

First pictures @ home :-) 14-10-2000 ....... 33493 Km on it.

Ok today's (16-10-00) update,

Yesterday I noticed that the starter wasn't hooked up.So what to do when you don't have a manual yet ??just send a post to the Aermacchi E-group ( www.egroup.com/group/aermacchi )

Got a nice plan/explonation on how to handle this one from Steve Bentley and the starter works.. well it turns..but it doesn't engage, must be incomplete and missing some sprockets or things like that.I'm not gonna fix that now, first I want to make a few short trips/tours on it.

The bike is in a good condition

it runs , it's greasy .it's great.

Notice there's only one mufler

on it instead of the usual two.

front view that's obvious, front tire is a Michelin.

Mirrors are taken of for transportation in the van.

rubber on the rear is a Metzler 4.00" wide.

and a "nice" yellow license plate....

a week and a good portion of elbow grease later.

The engine support brackets ; had to repaint them, they where looking too bad.

Dash/Cockpit bottom side, paint is just chipping off.

25-11-2000, bike is partly stripped .

30-11-2000, bike is a bit more stripped .

mmh doesn't look like a bike anymore.

But the only way to get the complete frame degreased.

10-12-2000, bike is now completly stripped .

did find rust on the bottom side of the frame tubes..

previous owner did a repaint on it but only where visible, the rear engine mounting bracket show rust on the bottom this needs to be taken care of.

and what's next..

mmhh there still some parts on the workbench that need to be cleaned, and then putting them all back together

...

By now I have all the parts that I need to repair the engine,

starter gears, starter chain, left engine cover and I even got a pair

of clip-ons, pictures will follow .....................................

Yep nice looking clip ons.. but I'm afraid it's gonna take a month or two before I am ready to put them on the bike.....

here 's a shot of the frame,

stripped the paint so I could check it for cracks, looks ok, spot to look for is in the red square.

took the frame out to get a frech powdercoat done :-)

it's gonna take a week or 2 maybe 3,

bet with my luck it's 3 weeks.

03-01-2001

Date is 12-01-2001,what's up, thought I'd better start cleaning the wheels and

things I need to put the frame back together.........

the engine can be done later .. I still need a piston ring..

The before and after pictures, as usual.

Took the sprocket off and gees that needs some work that's why it's not in the after picture. The rim is 100% a few bad spots in the chrome but I can live with that.

some where in the early '70ties there was a guy sitting at his drawingtable... scratching his head and thingking...... "how can I add some extra weight to this thing I'm drawing ... ??????" ...well he did a GOOD job, this rearsprocket weighs a ton .

today it's January 23 .. only a few minutes from midnight

Got my frame back last saterday..and it looks great

didn't have too much time over the weekend..

but I put the front end back together..

and mounted some of the electric stuff back on the frame,

this evening I put the swing arm back in the frame..

wasn't easy to get the axle back in due to the powdercaot the holes are a bit smaller..

but with the big fine hammer I managed to get it inplace..

put a rearshok on it to hold it up... ouch these aren't cleaned yet

and it clashes with the shiny fresh coat ....

ok a few pictures...........................

just look at that mirror shine :-).....

pretty thick coat ..makes it hard to read the serial number on the frame...............

this picture is a bit bigger just click on it.

front end with the clip ons ..

I polished the lower tree clamp

top clamp is crincle paint..

it didn't look too well before.

don't think this one needs comment..

but I put fresh oil in the shocks

Bel-Ray 15w 6 OZ in each leg.

may 4th , made some updates..

but am not done yet there are still a bunch of pictures I have to ad.

Feb. 21 2001

this is again a rolling chassis :-)

Feb. 22 2001

Right side handle ,as greasy as all parts.

stripped 'm to get a new paint on them.

just cloudn't resist I had to put the seat and tank on it just to see how it's gonna look like .

Feb. 23 2001

This is the cleaned support bracket for the dashplate.

Here is the repainted dash completed again,on the larger picture you see there's very little room between the conector and the clip on =:-O

May 13 Sunday morning,

good weather here and lots of sunshine so time to take the bike outside to take a few pictures.

The clip ons look good, but it takes some time to get used to this riding position.

Don't think this needs any comment :-)

And the last one.
